Welcome - (continued)
"Nothing of great and lasting value ever comes easy;
a price must be paid, a sacrifice must be made."
In July of 1999, I made a decision to begin working the 12-Step program of recovery as outlined
in the "Big Book" of Alcoholics Anonymous. The "Big Book" led me back to the "Good Book"
and helped me to believe, know, and trust Yeshua (Jesus). And He is not
just my Redeemer; He is also Lord of my life.
Now to be sure, without the program of Alcoholics Anonymous, I probably would have died an
alcoholic death. Yet I firmly believe that had I not chosen to surrender to
the One true God of ALL creation, I probably would have died a slow, miserable death;
full of remorse and self-pity.
Today I live free from the insanity that haunted me for over 30 years.
Today I have the pleasure and the privilege to freely pass along what has freely been
given to me. And I am not just talking sobriety here. Moreover I am talking about practicing the spiritual
principles just as they were practiced by the founders and pioneers of A.A. -- all of them being based upon a
solid foundation of a living and active
faith in the Son of God.
I whole-heartedly echo Dr. Bob's statement found on page 181 of the Big Book...
"If you think you are an atheist, an agnostic, a
skeptic, or have any other form of intellectual pride which keeps you from accepting what is in this book, I
feel sorry for you. If you still think you are strong enough to beat the game alone, that is your affair. But
if you really and truly want to quit drinking liquor for good and all, and sincerely feel that you must have
some help, we know that we have an answer for you. It never fails, if you go about it with one half the zeal
you have been in the habit of showing when you were getting another drink. Your Heavenly Father will never let
you down!"
--Dr. Bob Smith, Co-founder, Alcoholics Anonymous
It is my prayer that everyone who finds themselves unable to tame the beast within, will come to
know the Prince of Peace and release from all the pain and sorrow that for so long has been impossible to
overcome. And if you haven't already, it is my hope that you will discover what I (and thousands like me) have
discovered -- the greatest treasure of all time -- a new and
abundant life in Christ.
Grace and peace,
Karl R
