I grew up in a Christian church, but I never had a relationship with the God of the Bible. I always thought that God was angry, vindictive, spiteful, distant, judgmental, and just waiting to strike me when I got out of line.

On more than one occasion I have found myself whole-heartedly agreeing with the title of an old Tom Petty song, "the waiting is the hardest part."
But in all reality, there is something much more difficult to practice; even though it is something that most of us would like receive from others at various and sundry times in our life. Any guesses?

We say that we want to know the will of God... but do we really?!?
A man named Jack was walking along a steep cliff one day when he accidentally got too close to the edge and fell. On the way down he grabbed a branch, which temporarily stopped his fall. He looked down, and to his horror, he saw that the canyon fell straight down for more than a thousand feet. He couldn't hang onto the branch forever, and there was no way for him to climb up the steep wall of the cliff. So Jack began yelling for help, hoping that someone passing by would hear him and lower a rope or something.
"The trouble with the faith of today is that it is removed from faith in God. The faith of today is in laws and moral principles and in ways of living life -- but it is not faith in God himself."
